Post-fiscal year events
Effective October 1, 2006, the Thalia Group of booksellers acquired a 50.1 percent interest in Grüttefien GmbH, Varel, which operates 18 bookshops, the majority of which are located in northern Germany. On the same date, Thalia continued its expansion in Austria with its takeover of the Wagnersche Buchhandlung in Innsbruck. With effect of January 1, 2007, Thalia also acquired the BUCH & KUNST group, Dresden. BUCH & KUNST currently operates 44 bookstores mainly in eastern Germany and North Rhine-Westphalia. This last acquisition is still subject to approval from the German antitrust authorities.
The Hussel confectionery stores acquired a total of 86 stores from Susi Süßwarenfachgeschäfte GmbH, Cologne, as of November 1, 2006.
As a result of the capital increase on November 14, 2006, to issue employee shares, subscribed capital increased by 0.1 million EUR to 117.6 million EUR.
In fiscal year 2006/07, the following changes to the company’s legal structure have already been implemented: As of October 1, 2006, Dr. Burkhard Bamberger was appointed to the Executive Board of DOUGLAS HOLDING AG. He has since been responsible for Finance, Accounting, Financial Control and Taxation. In addition, Mr. Reiner Unkel was appointed as Director of the Perfumeries division as of January 1, 2007.
No other significant events occurred subsequent to the end of the fiscal year.
